Lately I've been doing more listening to the Bible while I drive.
It's been a great way to redeem my travel time.
The only problem is... sometimes I lock on to something I hear and while thinking about it I miss the next chunk of verses being read.
But it's not so bad... as I usually come away with something really worthwhile.
For example:
I was listening where Paul speaks of his desire to use His authority for building others up, not tearing them down (2 Cor. 13:10).
This got me pondering...
It's so easy to misuse authority...
... as a father, a husband, a boss... or even as someone with some expertise or strength you're able to wield over others.
So you really need to make a conscious effort to use your influence for the good of others, and not just yourself...
... in order to build them up and enlarge their ability to fulfill their purpose and serve God with their gifts.
That's something definitely worth considering as you use your own authority today.
Because God has given us all at least some kind of authority. It might even be moral authority.
But whatever it is, it's to be used to serve God and others.
