The Bible tells us a lot of sensible things about holding one's tongue.
For example, Proverbs reads:
'When words are many, sin is unavoidable, but he who restrains his lips is wise.' (Pr.10:19).
So curbing your speech is normally a good practice.
But there are times when we need to speak up.
Like when:
- speaking the truth would defuse a dangerous lie
- speaking up would keep someone from harm
- speaking the gospel would bring words of life to others
So there are times when silence is not golden.
And by stepping out in faith and speaking up you can recreate a situation for the better.
