School is now back in session for the fall.
That means teachers and parents everywhere are again challenged with the task of keeping their students motivated to pay attention and do their work.
... But motivation isn't just a problem students face.
Employees, professionals, retirees, stay-at-home-moms... pretty much anyone can struggle with motivation.
Because anyone can wonder...
"Why should I bother with this?
"What is the point?"
So...
How do you get -- and stay -- motivated?
You have to discover your purpose.
Without purpose, there's little to keep you going.
But if you know your purpose, you see why you ought to stay engaged...
... and keep learning and applying yourself...
... even if you feel like you're trudging through mud.
So motivation follows purpose.
And this is why seeing your life in light of the dominion mandate is so invaluable (Gen.1:26).
For there we discover God has given us the purpose of ruling and cultivating for Him.
And He's given us each a specific purpose at that...
... based on our gifts and the needs and circumstances around us.
In other words...
He's made you and given you breath so you would do something that needs to be done.
And it's something someone else will benefit from having you do, too.
Purpose is the key to motivation.
... Particularly, God's purpose.
