Word is out that a growing number of American cities are becoming unhealthy places.
Multiplying rats.
Poop on the streets.
There's even fear these cities are vulnerable to a return of medieval diseases -- like the plague.
It's easy to assume this is all due to poor public policies and maxed out budgets in the face of increased homelessness.
These things sure don't help matters. But there's something else going on here.
For most of America's history, her citizens have taken for granted a certain standard of cleanliness and sanitation... even among the poor.
That's because America got its standards for these areas from the Bible... in places like Leviticus and Deuteronomy.
But now that America has broken away from its biblical roots, you can't expect that keeping things clean is a shared value anymore.
And it goes to show...
A biblical, living faith has to be more than just nurturing one's individual walk with Jesus on the way to heaven.
It has to involve applying all the Bible to all of life.
