Over 400 years ago a Puritan named John Owen wrote a book called 'The Mortification of Sin.'
The book is not an easy read. Yet after four centuries it remains the best book available on the topic of overcoming personal sin.
Unfortunately, because the book is dense and written in old English, few people benefit from it in our day.
But now there's an updated version that's much easier to read, and I see it's available on Kindle for just 99 cents for the next few days.

Sin is misery to the soul.
Not only that, it keeps us from living the kind of life God has for us.
In other words... ongoing, unaddressed sin will cause you to miss your true calling.
That's why the Scripture says we're to take sin seriously and strive to put it to death:
'For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live' (Rom.8:13).
Owen's book explores this truth in detail.
And by applying the principles he uncovers, you'll be better equipped to keep sin from having dominion over you, and be better able to rule faithfully in the places God calls you.
