Another couple of mass shootings this weekend.
Sobering, isn't it?
The whole trend is horrific. Even diabolical.
As expected, the shootings have brought another round of inflamed political speech... having to do with guns, immigration and racism.
But these words aren't what we need. And they won't help.
Because there's no political solution for this problem.
Politics is downstream from culture... making politics just a reflection of our culture.
And culture is downstream from what we believe about God, law, morality, and the value of human lives.
So... the solution to these grievous shootings -- and the culture of death they represent -- is spiritual.
Meaning... a spiritual awakening is what we need.
And that need calls us to apply the grace of the gospel and the values of God's kingdom to the society around us...
... and doing so with a prayerful expectancy others will have ears to hear and eyes to see.
This may seem daunting in a culture with so much hostility toward the things of God...
... but sharing the truth that Jesus is Lord -- and that we need to return to Him and His ways -- is the most fitting way to love your neighbor...
... and it alone has the power to recover a culture of life.
