I noticed something in the Bible today...
When the Israelites were in the wilderness, they not only complained about no longer having the variety of foods they ate while slaves in Egypt...
... they also missed having these things 'for free' (Numbers 11:5).
I hadn't seen the part about the food being 'free' before.
But it's not surprising the Bible mentions this...
Because a free lunch has always been tempting... and it still is.
This helps explain the appeal of socialism in our own day.
But if we want certain favors just because they're free... or easy... or comfortable... we miss out on the greater purpose God has for us in His kingdom.
Sure our faith will be tested along the way... but on the other side of the trials lies the blessing He intends for us.
