There's a familiar verse in the Book of Romans that reads:
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Rom.3:23).
We tend to get the first part of this verse... that we've all sinned...
... but what about the second part?
What does it mean to fall short of the glory of God?
Think of it this way...
In the beginning God made us to reflect His glory by faithfully extending His rule over the earth as His image-bearers.
But with sin comes a bent toward seeking our own glory and building our own little kingdoms...
... and in this way we fall short of the glory of God.
The good news is Jesus came to restore God's original design... so we would share in God's glory as we fulfill the callings He gives to each one of us.
And it's because of this renewed life we have in Christ the Apostle Paul exhorts us:
"Whether then you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God" (1 Cor. 10:31).
