A recent study claims Americans are bored 131 days of the year.
For the research, a boring day was defined as having 'no fun at all'...
... and the major reason for the lack of fun is that grown up responsibilities are keeping us from entertaining activities.
As I read this report I couldn't help but wonder... maybe we need to broaden what it means to have fun a bit?
Surely taking in a movie... a night of bowling... or going to a ball game can be great ways to have fun.
But can't we also find fun in the routines that occupy so much of our lives?
Is there not fun to be found in ruling, cultivating, saving, beautifying and bringing wisdom to the many situations we encounter every day?
Methinks if we opened our eyes to the opportunities God gives us, we'd have a lot more fun in the places He calls... no matter how ordinary those places may seem.
And we'd have fewer boring days too.
Fulfilling your calling... using your gifts... and delivering grace as part of God's overall mission to our world can be a lot of fun.
You just might have to look at fun a little differently to see it and enjoy it.
