When God brings us to Himself, He does so not so we would escape the world but overcome it.
Realizing this makes all the difference in how we approach the world.
If escaping is the goal, we'll tend to live in fear of the world, and disengage from it.
Yet if overcoming the world is what God wants, we can approach it with a humble confidence in His promises and His truth... as we carry out His calling to rule and cultivate it for His glory.
So how do we know He wants us to overcome the world and not escape it?
Well for one, He's left us here.
He hasn't whisked us away, but He's left us in the world.
But also, He tells us.
He says 'everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world' and that 'the victory that overcomes the world is our faith' (1 Jn.5:24).
So though you may be tempted to escape this broken world of ours, God calls you to overcome it by the faith He's given you.
