I have a new favorite phrase from the Bible.
It is: "But God."
Surprised?
It may seem like there's not a lot to this pair of words.
But it actually serves as a pivot to brighten our perspective in the midst of our most difficult circumstances.
The phrase "But God" appears 42 times in the Bible... and it's used to show how God mercifully rules over everything.
For example...
When it looked like the world had been destroyed forever by a flood, the Bible says "But God remembered Noah..." (Gen.8:1).
And when Joseph's brothers intended to do him harm, we're told "but God meant it for good" (Gen.50:20).
And... when the account of Christ's crucifixion is told, it's followed with: "but God raised Him from the dead" (Acts 13:30).
And, of course, we can't forget that in ourselves we are helplessness... "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Rom. 5:8).
Now I don't know what you have going in your life right now... but whatever it is, don't forget the truth "But God."
He is always at work to bring about His good purpose through you... no matter what your situation may be.
