Grappling with God

Do recall from the Bible how Jacob wrestled with God in the the form of a man?

And do you remember how Jacob would not let go in this wrestling match until God blessed him?

It was after this that God indeed did bless Jacob and changed his name to 'Israel'... which means 'he who strives with God' (Gen. 32:24-28).

So, it seems God likes it when His people contend with Him for His blessing.

And from this we see that we -- who are the true Israel of God in Jesus -- shouldn't be quick to give up our desires to be blessed by God and bring His blessing to the world...

... but we should instead go back to Him and grapple for His blessing when we're discouraged and inclined to give up.
