A while back I had a friend who would often say, "Let's not settle."
It became kind of a signature phrase for him... and he'd say it whenever we had to choose between a bold and not so bold option.
It was his way of communicating that we should go big and really live.
For some reason I thought of this phrase recently and it led me to consider how often we settle.
Instead of choosing the route that's more glorious and maybe riskier, we go for the path that's safe and complacent. The way that's blah.
In a lot of cases this is no big deal.
It might even be wise and efficient... like when you choose to go to the drive through rather than the sit down restaurant when you're short on time or watching your budget.
But when it comes to bigger issues... like the direction of our lives... we probably ought to go with the bold option far more often than we do.
Because, you've only got one shot to use your gifts and opportunities for Him.
So let's not settle.
