When God opened Saul's eyes to see His mercy, it was in order to transform him and make him His servant.

In a similar way...

When God shows us we have it better than we deserve, it's to draw us back to Him and His work.

It's to keep us from chasing shiny objects and lead us to double down on faithfulness.

Mercy is not just God's free pass to cover our wrongs.

It's His gift to change us so we pursue what is right.

And, His mercies are new every morning (Lam. 3:22-23).
