You know what it's like to have a good idea only to talk yourself out of it?
You know...
You think of some good action to take or gesture to show, but then you start questioning yourself with thoughts like...
... it's too risky...
... maybe later...
... or I might embarrass myself...
... or, I really don't know if I want head down that path.
How much good must go undone by this common line of thinking!
But here's the thing...
If we act more quickly, we can turn that around.
You see...
Apparently our brains are designed in such a way that if we don't act on an idea within 5 seconds, we'll probably never do anything about it at all.
The trick then is to make sure you act on a good idea right away.
So... you have a good idea come to mind?
Then do something about it -- within five seconds!
Write it down.
Pick up the phone.
Send an email.
Start walking.
Whatever ever is going to get you moving in the direction of acting on your good idea!
Now, this may seem like just a cute little mind hack.
But here's the thing to remember...
God wants you to be faithful.
And He gives you opportunities to step out and do good as you trust Him all day long.
And He even says it's a sin to know the right thing to do and not do it (Jas. 4:17).
So as God gives you ideas of ways you can serve Him by serving others today, take action.
This is all part of God's purpose for you.
And don't delay.
You've only got five seconds... and poof... the good idea you have might be gone. Forever.
