I have a friend who is a business coach.
He's very good at what he does.
Recently he told me that one of the things he does with his clients is to help them discover their 'superpower'...
... with a superpower being defined as any unique ability you have to help and serve others.
So, for example, one of my superpowers is to help people discover their place in God's design for the world and encourage them to live out their purpose accordingly.
This is something I believe God has specifically equipped me and called me to do.
As I've thought about the idea of superpowers, a couple of things have become clear to me.
The first is that superpowers are simply what we in the Christian community call 'gifts'... as we believe that God is the one who prepares us to serve Him in particular ways.
As James puts it, "Every good and perfect gift is from above" (Jas.1:17).
The other thing is that figuring out your superpower isn't just important for people in business.
It's important for everyone... because God has given all of us gifts and abilities to use in the service of others.
So, no matter who you are and what stage of life you're in, consider your superpowers.
What special abilities, interests, experiences and opportunities has God given you to serve others?
Take the time you need to figure this out. Pray about it. And ask for insight from those who are well acquainted with you if you need to.
Because knowing and employing your superpowers is one of the best things you can do to be used by God for the sake of His kingdom.
And it's also one of the most fulfilling.
