Why 'free speech' is such a big deal

If you pay attention to the news these days you know that 'free speech' is a hot topic.

Now normally when people think of free speech, they think in terms of having the freedom to express their political views...

... no matter how unpopular or offensive others may perceive them to be.

But free speech goes deeper than that... because the words we speak are tools God has given us to shape the world around us for Him.

Understood that way, free speech is not just a hot topic... it's vital to fulfilling God's call on our lives...

... and it's something we ought to protect and apply for the sake of His truth and goodness every chance we get.

If we cower in fear and are intimidated into silence, the work He has for us will go undone.
