The Bible reveals more than once that Jesus talked with the devil.
And when He did, He usually dealt with him quite bluntly... as when He said, "Get behind me, Satan!" (Mt.16:23).
On this particular occasion, Jesus was actually in a conversation with Peter... who was seeking to dissuade Him from fulfilling His mission of going to Jerusalem to be crucified.
But behind Peter's words, Jesus could discern that they were really coming from the same one who tempted Him in the wilderness... and tried to get him to believe that He could attain His kingdom without the cross... so a strong response was in order.
Keep this encounter in mind as you face your own temptations, enticements, rationalizations and distractions that would deter you from the mission God has for you.
Consider their source... and respond accordingly.
