Over the weekend I started reading a book called 'Extreme Ownership."
The book is written by a couple of retired Navy SEALs who led the ground effort in the Battle of Ramadi in Iraq.
As expected, the book has plenty of war stories, but what stands out is its consistent message that in order to fulfill any mission you've been given, you have to take complete responsibility - or 'extreme ownership' -- of it.
The authors' intent in writing is to show how this principle of "extreme ownership" applies not just to soldiers and military campaigns, but to all of us in all of life.
As I've been pondering this theme of taking complete responsibility, I can't help but see how it ties right in with God's design for the particular missions He gives each of us...
... and it's rooted all the way back to the Garden, where God commissioned the first man and woman to rule and cultivate the world for Him.
Ever since Adam, mankind's tendency -- of course -- has been to deny responsibility, make excuses, and avoid the mission He has for us.
But as we keep turning back to Him in repentance and faith, we receive His grace and are able to do what He calls us to fulfill.
So take a look at the mission God has given you today... and with His help, OWN IT.
