A
friend of mine pointed out a new musical group that's produced an album which is made up entirely of work songs.
The name of the group is The Porter's Gate... and according to the group's website, the purpose of their album "Work Songs" is to affirm vocation as an integral part of a life of worship.
I've listened to some of the music and I like it -- especially the
lyrics.
For example, one song is entitled "Your Labor is Not in Vain" and the first verse and chorus go like this...
VERSE 1:
Your labor is not in vain
though the ground underneath you is cursed and stained
Your planting and reaping are never the same
But your labor is not in vain.
REFRAIN:
For I am with you, I am with you.
I am with you, I am with you
For I have called you,
called you by name
Your labor is not in vain.
I mention this because you might enjoy checking the group out and listening while you work.

But even more...
We all need to be reminded that our work is a major part of how we worship and serve God.
It's one of the ways we present ourselves to Him as a living sacrifice (Rom.12:1).
