Last week I was
listening to Rush Limbaugh in my car while running some errands.
A certain lady -- I don't remember her name -- called in to comment about the topic of the day.
As she made her point, she told a bit about her own personal history... which was horrible.
She explained how her mother used to sell her to men for alcohol... and how as a
teenager she was repeatedly gang raped by these men her mom knew... just so she could get booze.
When Rush heard this, he was flabbergasted...
... and I must say, filled with a lot of compassion, too.
He could not believe what happened to
this woman, and what her mother had done.
But even more...
... he was shocked at the caller's composure and strength... and he told her so.
He asked her, "Aren't you angry toward your mother?"
She answered, "No, not at all."
And he asked further... "How are you not completed shattered as a person from what you've experienced?"
She replied with just two words: "Jesus Christ."
You could tell Rush was amazed by the whole encounter... as the woman went on to relate that even though she went through hell, in a strange way it saved her and gave her a mission in life... to help others who have experienced their own living nightmares.
What she said was really inspiring.
And she left all who heard her with a clear message... as she demonstrated so plainly by her own life... even if you've been terribly abused and mistreated, it doesn't mean your life is ruined.
Jesus can put you back together again... so you can let go of the anger and be filled with His love and fulfill the purpose He
has for you.
And He can do that for anyone.
He can do that for you... no matter what you've been through, or may be going through.
