While hitting the 'send' button on one of my emails last week I noticed a typo in the subject line.
But it was too late to fix it.
The email was already launched... on its way to your inbox... and all I could do was watch my error slip into cyberspace.
Ouch...
... I hate it when that happens.
For a minute or so I berated myself for not adequately editing the subject line...
... and I wondered how many people would catch the mistake and disregard the email as a result.
But then I figured it was no big deal...
After all, these emails aren't meant to be literary masterpieces.
They're simply notes of encouragement -- from my heart to yours -- to remind you that God has something worthwhile for you to do with your life.
And mistakes are bound to happen now and then.
Besides that...
If you're pursuing what God has given you to do, you're going to make mistakes now and then, too...
... and you shouldn't let that stop you.
Too many people are shamed by their blunders or frozen by their perfectionism.
So they bury their gifts.
And we end up missing out on their contribution to the world.
Don't let that be true of you.
If you're doing anything worthwhile, you're going to make errors.
It's okay.
You're going to make them. It comes with the territory.
Just learn something when they happen...
... and take the approach of the Apostle Paul when he spoke of 'forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead" (Phil.3:13)...
... and remember, God is pleased to use flawed people every day.
