Years ago I came across
a little booklet called 'Television or Dominion.'
The booklet made the case that devotion to television competes with God's call upon us to co-rule the creation with Him...
... and does so by making us passive, sucking away our time and interpreting reality for us.
I thought of this point recently when I read of the large number of people who now "binge watch" Netflix series.
Apparently there are now millions who have made Netflix one of their closest
companions... watching hours at a time -- one program after another -- often every night of the week.
It makes me wonder...
With this kind of devotion, where is there time to meet a neighbor, have a conversation, start a hobby, make some music, learn something new from a book, do some Bible study or pray?
In other words... how can we
develop ourselves and create and serve others as God calls us to do?
