Do you know what gaslighting is, and how to cope with it?

Lately I've been seeing the term 'gaslighting' being used.

The last time I saw it I decided to look it up and found that:

"Gaslighting is an emotionally abusive tactic that makes the victim question their own sanity and perception of reality."

Although the term gaslighting may be relatively new, the practice itself has gone on for millennia.

When the Apostle Paul preached before King Agrippa... calling Him to repentance and faith... the Roman Ruler Festus intervened and told Paul that he was out of his mind and that his learning had driven him mad (Acts 26:24).

Claiming Paul was crazy was an early form of gaslighting.

But Paul held his ground.

And we should do the same whenever people think we're crazy for seeking to advance Christ's kingdom...

Because there are certain realities that just aren't going to change...

These realities include the truth that:

- God created all things good...

- The world has fallen from His good and wise design...

- But Jesus is redeeming the world by His grace and making all things new...

- And the day is coming when He will judge the world in righteousness and bring His renewal to completion...

If you stay rooted in these realities, you'll do well... no matter how much others may question your sanity.
