Apparently we're about to be treated to another 'blood moon'... and from what I hear this is supposed to be the biggest and longest appearing blood moon of the century.
Some are taking this prophetically... and claiming that certain Bible references in Acts and Revelation are now being fulfilled, revealing that the world is about to end.
Is this
true?
Nah... astronomical events like eclipses and blood moons are entirely predictable -- and are not prophetic.
So what are we to make of the Bible references about the moon turning to blood?
This is language scripture uses to warn that the Old Covenant sacrificial system was coming to an end, and that those who would refuse to
trust Jesus as the cornerstone of the New Covenant would face bloodshed.
This crisis came to pass in 70 A.D. when the Roman army destroyed Jerusalem, brought the Jewish temple to ruins, and caused blood to fill the streets.
So, any prophetic significance of the moon turning to blood has already been fulfilled.
And that means... when
it comes to the coming blood moon, I say enjoy it as one of the many ways God declares His glory in the heavens.
And instead of allowing it to become a way of distracting you or escaping what He's called you to do with your life, let it motivate you to serve Him with more devotion.
