The Barna research group
recently published results from a new study about the "State of the Bible" in America.
According to the report, over half of Americans are 'Bible users' -- meaning they read, pray with, or consider the Bible's content.
Also, two-thirds are curious to know more about what the Bible says.
And a similar number are interested in knowing
more about Jesus.
With all the cultural changes going on in America, those numbers are better than I thought they'd be.
And the continued interest in the Bible is actually quite encouraging.
But what if all those interested in the Bible knew and lived out its message?
The message
itself is a simple one...
God made us in His image and calls us to fill, rule and cultivate the world for His glory (Gen.1:26-28;2:15).
We all -- as sons and daughters of Adam -- have fallen short of God's design and seek to live independently from Him (Gen.3:1-7; Rom.3:23).
Jesus came to redeem the world and make 'all things new'...
including you and me (Rev.21:5; 2 Cor.5:17).
And, as Jesus reclaims our lives, He takes away the judgment we deserve and gives us good works to do for the building of His kingdom (Jn.5:24; Eph.2:1-10).
Like I said, the Bible's message is simple.
And it's exactly what's needed to transform our lives and our
world.
