Proverbs 16:3
says:
"Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established."
A lot of people take this to mean that if you take your plans to the Lord, He will effectively rubber stamp them and make them become reality.
But that's not what the verse is saying.
Rather, it's saying that our focus is to be on doing our work unto the Lord, and as we do He will direct our course.
Understanding this brings comfort whenever our plans don't work out as we think they
should, because we can be assured that He is working out the larger purpose of our lives in ways we can't understand.
And once we realize that, committing our work unto Him gets easier and all the more exciting.
