At 81 years of age
an Australian man has donated blood for the last time.
What's remarkable is that James Harrison has given blood about 20 times each year for the last 60 years...
And even more remarkable...
It's believed that Mr. Harrison's blood donations have saved the lives of more than 2.4
million babies... due to a rare antibody found in his plasma needed to make a medication for a disease that afflicts newborns.
Mr. Harrison has become known as the 'man with the golden arm.'
And his 60 year commitment to donating blood is a great example of the biblical principle that calls us to step up and meet a need when we're able to do so.
Of course, there are few 'golden arm' stories like that of Mr. Harrison's.
But we all face situations every day where we can give a hand to serve others and make their lives better.
