Ever since I was a kid
I've enjoyed learning about words.
I remember when I was in high school my parents gave me a 'word of the day' calendar for Christmas one year -- and I loved it!
Also... when I was in college I used to read the dictionary for fun. My wife still reminds me how nerdly that was!
And even now, whenever I have a doctor or dentist
appointment, I look for a Reader's Digest so I can go through the 'Word Power' section.
Well today, in that word-loving spirit, I have a word to share.
The word is: congruity.
Congruity is where all the parts of something are in agreement or harmony with the whole.
In other
words, there's consistency.
And this is the state God wants us to be in as we live our lives for Him.
No inner division.
Or as James puts it, we're not to be 'double-minded' (Jas. 1:8).
Rather, we're to have congruity among our thoughts, words, actions, morals, goals, etc...
across all areas of life.
And it's in this way we not only use our lives as He intended... but also most effectively for Him.
