Living by Dying
Today marks the beginning of Lent.
Some Christian traditions observe it. Others don’t.
But every Christian man is called to the reality behind it:
Repentance.
Lent reminds us that life comes through death.
Not physical death—death to self.
The world tells men to assert
themselves and build their own name.
But Jesus points us in a different direction:
He calls us to die.
...Die to pride.
...Die to the need to win every argument.
...Die to lust that promises but never delivers.
...Die to comfort that erodes courage and conviction.
...Die to self-sufficiency that keeps you
from depending on God.
We often think repentance is a one-time doorway into the Christian life.
It’s not.
It’s the daily path of dominion.
It's the way to rule with Christ.
The man who refuses to die to himself becomes ruled by his passions.
Yet the man who learns to die is free.
Where do you need to repent
today?
Not in vague feelings of guilt—but in specific, concrete surrender.
Whatever it is, confess it. Turn from it. And replace it with obedience.
The cross is not just where your salvation began.
It's the pattern for how to live.
And in dying, the life God designed for you breaks through.
“For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” — Matthew 16:25
