Don’t Let Darkness Dictate Your Direction
There is no shortage of evil to obsess over.
Corrupt leaders. Cultural decay. Godless ideologies.
The outrage cycle refreshes by the hour.
And paying attention to it all can be addictive.
Curiosity pulls you in.
Fear keeps you scrolling.
And a desire for justice convinces you it’s necessary.
But...
The Bible never commands you to obsess over the godless.
It calls you to trust and obey as you pursue God's mission.
Yes, we must be
aware of evil.
Scripture tells us to stay alert (1 Pet. 5:8).
And there are times we must expose evil and confront it head on (Eph. 5:11).
But awareness and taking necessary action are different from obsession.
David said, “Fret not yourself because of evildoers” (Ps. 37:1).
Why? Because fixation leads to agitation, and agitation clouds mission.
Paul didn’t say, “Study evil endlessly.”
He said, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good” (Rom. 12:21).
That’s constructive, forward-moving instruction.
When you obsess over darkness, it affects you.
It shapes your mood, your tone, and your priorities.
Before long, you
are reacting instead of leading.
And men made for dominion were never designed to live in reaction mode.
Evil does not get to set your agenda.
God does.
When Joshua entered Canaan, God didn’t hand him a cultural analysis briefing.
He told him: Be strong. Be courageous. Meditate on My Word. Obey it.
Your calling is not to monitor everything wrong in the world.
Your calling is to carry out your assignment with faithful obedience.
Stay aware and stay guarded, for sure.
Protect
and intervene as needed.
But don’t let darkness dictate your direction.
Trust and obey God.
Keep building.
Advance the mission.
