Top Priority for Navigating a Changing Job Market
There’s a lot of talk right now about disruption in the job market.
AI is accelerating change.
Industries are shifting.
Jobs are evolving faster than many men expected.
Understandably, men are concerned.
But the number one thing a man can do to prepare for a changing economy is not merely upgrading his skills.
It’s grounding his identity in something deeper than his occupation.
A man who builds his identity only on his occupation will eventually be shaken by success, failure, or retirement.
Of course, work matters.
God calls men to cultivate, build, lead, provide, and serve through their vocations.
What a man does is part of his identity.
But it was never meant to be the source of it.
Market forces change.
Careers shift.
Titles disappear.
So a man who only knows himself through his work is more fragile than he realizes.
The Bible gives us something more stable:
You were created in the image of God.
Made for dominion.
Redeemed in Christ for the work God has prepared for
you.
Your occupation is an expression of your identity—not the foundation of it.
When your identity is rooted in your Creator and Redeemer, you can face disruption
without losing yourself.
And from that point, you can adapt, grow, and discover what God has for you next.
Job disruption may change your work. It does not have to
shake your identity.
