I
had a grandson delivered yesterday!
I’m thankful...
Few things bring hope and wonder to a family like a baby.
But the event also made me thankful for another reason:
We need babies.
From the very beginning, God gave mankind the charge to “be fruitful and multiply,” to cultivate the earth and build the future.
And that command has never been repealed.
Children were never presented in Scripture as interruptions to life.
They are part of the mission.
The Bible consistently describes
children as a blessing, a heritage, and a reward from the Lord.
Yet our culture increasingly views them differently.
Children are often seen as expensive, inconvenient,
restrictive, or obstacles to personal freedom and career advancement.
And the results are becoming visible.
America’s fertility rate has now fallen below 1.6 births per
woman—far below the 2.1 needed for a society to replace itself over time.
That should concern us.
Not because babies are economic units, but because family formation is
tied to the health and future of a civilization.
Healthy societies depend on strong families, and strong families depend on welcoming the next generation.
So celebrate
babies.
Pray for young families.
Encourage marriage, fruitfulness, and generational thinking.
Every child is a reminder that God has not abandoned the future.
