The Man God Uses
Today’s my birthday.
It’s a day to be thankful, and a day to reflect on how I can be more useful to God for His kingdom.
Lately I’ve been noticing something in Scripture and in history:
The man God uses lives with covenant consciousness.
You see it in Abraham, David, and Daniel.
You also see it in men like John Calvin, Abraham Kuyper, and Gary North.
Different eras. Different callings. But a shared way of seeing reality.
Covenant consciousness is living with a settled awareness that:
- God is present in every moment
- You are accountable before Him
- His law governs what is right and wrong
- Your choices carry real
consequences
- Your life impacts generations beyond you
Most men don’t live with this awareness.
We default to immediacy—what feels urgent, rewarding, or manageable in the
moment.
But covenant consciousness pulls a man upward into something larger, more meaningful, and weighty.
It reframes life in a way that's no longer random or
self-authored.
It is lived with God... by His Word and toward His purposes.
This shift gives eternal weight to everything you do.
My prayer today is simple:
That I would grow in this awareness and become more useful in God’s hands for all my remaining days.
I invite you to pray the same for yourself.
