Your Life Has Real Value
“I have called you by name; you are mine.” (Isaiah 43:1)
Christianity is unique in the way it affirms the
value of each individual life.
This becomes clear when you consider some alternative worldviews.
With socialism, the individual is subordinated to the good of the
collective.
Your value is tied to your role, your output, or your place in the system.
With Islam, the individual is ultimately defined as a servant whose purpose is to
submit.
The emphasis is on obedience, without a personal relationship with God.
But with Christianity, something radically different is revealed.
You are not absorbed into a system. And you're not merely a subject under authority.
You are created, known, and called by God.
That means your value is not assigned by society or earned through performance—it is given by God Himself.
And it goes further.
You are not your own, for you were bought with a price.
You belong to Him.
And your
life carries weight because it cost something—the life of Jesus Christ.
Because of that, your life is not yours to waste.
It's yours to steward.
You are not just valuable. You are accountable.
Not just loved. You are called.
You've been given a charge and ought to live accordingly every day.
In a world where so much is impersonal and the importance of individuals is overlooked, remember this:
Every person has value—not in isolation from God, but because each person is created, known, and called by Him.
That’s true for you. And it’s true for your neighbor.
