Recovering Your Role as Protector
God made men to protect.
In fact, the Bible shows us...
Serving as a protector is fundamental to what it means to be a man.
God
put Adam in the garden to cultivate and keep it (Gen. 2:15).
And key to his failure was that he did not guard and defend the garden as he should have.
This protective
role remains vital for men today.
Scripture portrays men as protectors in three main ways:
1. Guardians of creation and
culture—the Dominion Mandate.
2. Defenders of the family and vulnerable—women, children, community.
3. Spiritual watchmen—leading in faith, resisting evil.
When men fail to defend in these areas, families, churches, neighborhoods, and nations suffer.
And when neglect persists, evil spreads. We're seeing this in our world today.
So take your role to protect seriously.
Start by guarding your
heart from what would lead you astray.
Then keep a vigilant eye on the domains God has entrusted to you.
Protection isn’t about control—it’s loving
sacrifice...
It’s using your position and strength to bless, guard, and preserve life.
At its most basic, it’s how a man loves God and neighbor.
