Weighed down by anxiety or regret?
“If you’re anxious, you’re living in the future.
If you’re depressed, you’re
living in the past.”
There’s a good chance you’ve heard this quote before.
And there’s truth in it.
Anxiety often feeds on imagined futures, concerning things we can’t control.
And depression often feeds on past regrets, losses, or failures we keep replaying.
To live in either the future or the past blurs focus and drains the strength needed for today.
But Scripture gives us an even fuller, stronger frame.
The problem isn’t simply where we’re living in time…
The problem is how we’re relating to God in time.
Jesus doesn’t say, “Ignore the future.” He says, “Do not be anxious about tomorrow”—because your
Father has it covered (Matt. 6:34).
Paul doesn’t deny the past. He says, “Forgetting what lies behind and pressing forward to what lies ahead”—because it has been brought under redemption (Phil. 3:13).
Biblical faith doesn’t disregard the past or the future.
It grounds you in obedient trust for today.
A man finds steadiness
when he brings his:
• past under grace,
• future under God’s sovereignty, and
• present under faithful action.
This is where dominion begins.
By submitting every moment to Christ.
Now.
The effect of your life will be greatest when you bring your full attention, effort, and love to what’s in front of you.
“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will act” (Ps. 37:5).
Get Dominion,
