A 'kind' idea that always turns cruel
As we head into Thanksgiving, I’ve been noticing something more and more.
Socialism is being marketed as kind, selfless, and community-focused—especially to young people.
And the messaging is working.
Nearly one-third of young adults now say they prefer socialism as an economic system.
But here’s the problem:
Socialism never works.
Not as a way to meet needs, build prosperity, or create true community.
It’s a fairy tale that always ends in misery for
those who buy into it.
This isn’t my opinion—it’s the historical record of dozens of countries.
And we even see it in the early founders of America with their failed
communal experiments.
Why does socialism fail?
Because it takes away liberty and hands more decisions to a small ruling class—who decide what they think is “best” for
all.
The result is predictable: a lower standard of living for all, suffering, and oppression.
But even more fundamental…
Socialism is contrary to God’s design, which factors in:
-Personal responsibility
-Stewardship
-Rewards for diligent
work
-Protection of private property
-Trust in our Creator
These aren’t political talking points—they’re biblical principles woven into creation that socialism ignores.
Socialism attempts to bring paradise without God, but ends up delivering hell on earth.
God’s abundant blessing, on the other hand, comes through faithful obedience to Him and His order.
And everything we enjoy ultimately comes from His hand.
That’s worth remembering this Thanksgiving.
It ought to turn our hearts to Him in gratitude...
And compel us to live by His principles.

comes from above.” — James 1:17
