Guarding Your Attention
Distraction is everywhere.
Fear of the future. Regrets about the past. Temptations that pull us off course.
If we yield to them, we cannot fulfill what God intends for us.
That’s why Proverbs 4:25–27 urges us:
"Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure. Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil."
Attention management is not just a productivity principle—it’s a biblical one.
The New Testament echoes this:
“Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth” (Colossians 3:2).
But here’s the hope—you don’t have to do this in your own strength.
God’s grace trains us to say “no” to distractions and “yes” to the life He’s called us to (Titus 2:11–12).
Attention management, then, is really dependence on God.
And by His Spirit, He helps us focus, persevere, and stay on His path.
So today, amidst all the distractions around you and within you—where do you need to fix your eyes on Christ again?
