Shifting from Default to Designed
We all have default behaviors—patterns we fall into when we feel disconnected, anxious, or bored.
Some of these are sinful, others simply don’t serve us well.
Yet, over time, we get comfortable with these defaults.
We make a sort of truce with them, even when we know they harm us.
The good news: every day gives us a new opportunity to live differently.
Through Christ, we are a new creation (2 Cor. 5:17).
We can “put off the old self and put on the new” (Eph. 4:22-24).
This isn’t
just spiritual jargon.
It’s a call to notice your default behaviors and make intentional choices that align with God’s design.
Start by identifying the habits you need
to put off—those that pull you away from God’s intent.
Then consider the attitudes and actions you can put on in their place: like humility, self-control, and love.
Small steps matter.
Daily reliance on the Spirit transforms even the hardest patterns over time.
Don’t give up on change.
By God’s grace and the power of His Spirit, you can live as He designed you to live.
You are not trapped by your defaults.
Each day is an invitation to move into the life Christ has prepared for you.
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
