Guard the Gates
Men have a protective instinct that goes back to the Garden of Eden (Gen. 2:15).
It’s part of our design.
Adam was placed in the garden “to work it and keep it.”
That word keep means to guard, watch over, protect.
God wired men to stand watch.
But it’s easy to overlook our protective
role—
To become passive, look the other way, ignore.
Adam did it when the serpent spoke to Eve.
We’ve been tempted to repeat it ever since.
Recovering manhood means using our protective capacity.
And it’s not just about defending against physical threats.
Men are called to guard:
Life
— from the womb to the final breath.
Truth — from false teaching and cultural lies.
God’s
order — in our homes, churches, and communities.
So...
We stand against abortion.
We resist
persecution.
We shield the vulnerable from harm.
We confront corruption and injustice.
It’s the role of a watchman (Ezek. 33).
See the danger. Sound the alarm. Stand your ground.
This week, ask:
Where has God placed me as a protector?
In my family?
In my church?
In my city?
And then act—
Not in reckless bravado, but but with faith, courage, wisdom and love.
The whole earth is the Lord's...
Protect it accordingly.
Guard the gates.
