Depression among men is rising.
Many carry a heaviness they can’t explain—not just sadness, but a quiet despair.
And they don't know what to do with it.
But what if the problem isn’t really depression—but aimlessness?
Genesis 4:7 says, “If you do well, will
not your countenance be lifted up?”
That’s a deep truth.
When we’re not “doing well,” it shows.
We drift. We numb out. Life feels hollow.
It even shows in our faces.
But Scripture offers hope: your countenance can be lifted.
Doing well isn’t about hustle or perfection.
At its core, it’s about aligning your
life with God’s purpose—and showing up for it daily.
Faithfulness. Wise effort. Consistent acts of obedience. That’s the path to joy.
Men don’t thrive in
passivity.
We were made to subdue and steward—to take initiative under God’s rule.
And when we do, something changes.
Not just around us, but within us.
If you’ve felt stuck or dull inside, don’t just wait for it to lift.
Ask God: What have You given me to pursue?
What faithful step can I take today?
Then take it.
Repeat daily. Set goals. And live with a mission.
As you do, your countenance will be lifted.
And your life will have the effect God intends.
