Every
man wants his life to count.
To do and produce things that have an effect.
To bear fruit that lasts.
But striving for impact apart from Christ always leaves you burned out or bitter.
Jesus gives a better way:
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit” (John 15:5).
Notice the order.
Fruitfulness doesn’t come from ambition, hustle, or strategy.
It comes from abiding.
That means living in daily dependence, ongoing trust, and
moment-by-moment union.
Just as a branch can’t bear fruit on its own, you weren’t designed to live independently.
You were created to live attached.
Which takes a specific mindset:
Not as inventors of meaning.
Or owners of our outcomes.
But as branches on the Vine--as part of our identity.
And this Vine gives
everything we need:
Life. Nourishment. Strength. Direction.
Our part is to stay connected.
By receiving. trusting, and obeying.
And as we do, God brings the growth.
So if your life feels fruitless, don’t respond by trying harder.
Start by drawing nearer.
You were made to stay connected to Him.
This is how your life's best fruit will come.
