Encouragement for Reluctant Leaders
Many men know they should lead more boldly—at home, at church, and at work—but hesitate.
They feel the weight of leadership, but also the fear.
What if I’m not good enough? What if I get in over my head? What if I don’t have the words?
You’re not alone.
Even Moses—the man who led multitudes out of bondage—started out reluctant.
When God called him to lead Israel out of Egypt, Moses gave every excuse he could think of:
Who am I to do this? (Ex. 3:11)
What if they don’t believe me? (Ex. 4:1)
I’m not a good speaker! (Ex. 4:10)
Please send someone else. (Ex.
4:13)
Moses wasn’t being humble.
He was afraid. Insecure. Unwilling.
Yet God didn’t change His mind.
And he didn’t look for someone more gifted or more confident.
He gave Moses exactly what he needed: assurance of His presence, signs of His power, and a partner to speak with him.
God doesn’t need flawless leaders. He’s looking for faithful ones.
You don’t have to be ready, impressive, or eloquent.
You just have to say yes—and rely on His ability, not your own.
Let
God’s presence, not your fear, direct your next step.
You may feel inadequate—but He is not.
