The Curse of Entitlement
Entitlement runs deep in our culture.
It shows up in the quiet belief that life should hand us what we want — without the hard work, without the waiting, without the dependence on God.
But here’s the truth: one of the best days of my life was the day I realized I’m not entitled to anything.
Not success.
Not comfort.
Not even tomorrow.
That realization didn’t crush me — it freed me to become
all God intends me to be.
It pushed me to:
— Work hard at developing the gifts God gave me
— Focus on serving others rather than being served
— Depend on God’s grace for everything I need
Entitlement is a curse that kills growth. Gratitude is the fuel that grows character.
Scripture is clear:
“What do you have that you
did not receive?” (1 Corinthians 4:7)
Everything you possess — life, strength, opportunity — is a gift from God.
So steward it well.
Serve others. Work hard. Depend on Him.
And let gratitude — not entitlement — shape the way you live.
Refuse every trace of entitlement — and watch your life expand.
