Why I can’t stop thinking about the Dominion Mandate.

Some people wonder why I’m so fixated on the dominion mandate.

Others think it’s a little peculiar.

But there’s a good reason for it.

Let me break it down into three phases.

Phase One: A Theological Aha Moment
Many years ago I had a conversation with an Old Testament professor about God’s land promises.

That discussion changed everything.

I realized the land promise to Abraham wasn’t just about Israel—it was ultimately fulfilled in Jesus Christ and us as His joint-heirs.

That meant God wasn’t just concerned with a strip of land in the Middle East.

He has a purpose for all of creation—and for what we do in it.

Ever since that day, I haven’t been able to shake the reality that God’s original mandate to rule and cultivate the earth (Gen. 1:26-28) still matters.

Phase Two: My Personal Identity Crisis
About fifteen years ago I stepped away from pastoral ministry after two decades.

It wasn’t in my plan. But it was in God’s.

I wrestled with my identity. It was a hard time.

If I wasn’t a pastor, who was I?

That struggle took me back to Genesis.

And there I saw that my identity wasn’t in my job but in God’s design—to serve Him in this world as His image-bearer, in whatever way He called.

This realization became the foundation of my life.

Phase Three: Men Need This Truth
As I settled into this truth, I started noticing something:

A lot of men around me were struggling with the same kind of identity crisis.

So I started helping.

One by one, guys found clarity. A small group formed.

Then a ministry: Made for Dominion.

And it hasn’t stopped.
