What comes to your mind when someone brings up the topic of
self-image?
Do you see it as a bunch of psychobabble?
Talking about self-image makes a lot of believers uneasy because they assume it reflects a level of narcissism or
self-absorption.
But considering your self-image isn’t the same as being consumed with yourself.
It merely has to do with how you see yourself as a unique entity or
individual person in God's world.
And, knowing how to look at yourself accurately is vital to carrying out His purpose for you.
Let's face it...
We ALL think about ourselves.
So doesn't it make sense to make sure we see ourselves as God does?
If you agree, you might appreciate these few statements as you consider the formation of your own self-image.
1) God has specially created you in His image and likeness. He gave you this design to get dominion in the world in communion with
Him.
2) You, with the rest of humanity, have rebelled against God's design to function as a dominion man with Him. You've attempted to function independently from Him and this has led to all kinds of problems. But God has also redeemed you and made you a new man in Christ.
3) By God’s grace, you are now able to use your gifts and opportunities to play your part in building His kingdom with all the resources and opportunities He gives you at this time in history.
When a man bases his
self-image on these realities, he's well-positioned to enter into whatever God has given him to do in this world.
You are going to view yourself in some way.
You can't help it. It's part of being a thoughtful, self-reflective person made in God's image.
So you may as well stay self-aware of how He sees you, and live accordingly.
Get Dominion,
