God calls every one of us to rule and cultivate the domains of our
lives with Him.
But the longer we live the more we discover so much is outside of our control.
We make plans--which are often good--and then something happens that
keeps those plans from being fulfilled.
This happens all the time.
And it can frustrate to no end.
So how do we manage the tension of being rulers who control so little?
Here are a few things to remember...
Story
Though you envision the story of your life going a certain way, God is writing a different story--for your good and His glory (Rom. 8:28).
Sanctification
Though you may be weary of obstacles and hardships, God is using them to grow your character and dependence on Him (2 Cor. 12:10).
Service
Though your focus may be on what you want to accomplish, God is more interested in working through you in the ways He is giving you to serve (Mt. 20:28).
So much of what we face in life can seem futile.
But if you remember these truths--about story, sanctification and service--it's not hard to see He is accomplishing His purpose through you far more than you
may realize.
