A familiar catechism question asks:
What is the chief end of man?
And it answers:
The chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy him forever.
This statement has helped Christians point their lives in the right direction for centuries.
But it raises another question...
How are we supposed to glorify God?
The answer to this may seem fuzzy, abstract or
mystical.
But I believe we have it made clear for us in the beginning of the Bible.
Where God directs us to fulfill His mandate to fill the earth and subdue it (Gen.
1:28).
In other words...
We glorify God not by merely holding certain beliefs in our heads.
Or even praising Him in worship.
But by fulfilling His commission to cultivate and protect an ever-expanding garden-city with Him.
This, ultimately, is what gives meaning and purpose to your everyday activities.
And the way you approach what He's put before you today--in light of this mandate--is how you glorify Him.
