I know a lot of men who are concerned about living a fruitful
life.
And making it as effective as possible.
This is a noble, godly aspiration.
But what can anyone do to assure his life is fruitful and effective?
Faithful abiding in Christ is surely the starting point.
Jesus says...
Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit... (Jn. 15:5).
Yet the Apostle Peter gives us something more.
He says...
Make every effort to add to your faith goodness...
And to goodness
knowledge...
And to knowledge self-control...
And to self-control perseverance...
And to perseverance godliness...
And to godliness mutual affection...
And to mutual affection love.
Then he goes on to say...
... if these qualities are yours
and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Pet. 1:5-8).
So living a fruitful life is not just a matter living by faith.
It involves diligently adding the qualities above through the divine power God grants His
people...
... in the domains He has called you.
This is God's way to a fruitful and effective life.
